Welcome on my portfolio website. My name is Kim van Renswouw. January the 26th I graduated cum laude from the master Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente. In my master track ‘Design & Styling’ I focused on designing innovative, meaningful and inspiring consumer products in which the needs and values of the end-user are very important.

I love to design products and be creative. Besides visualizing ideas and research, developing new ideas, creating concepts designs, and designing new products I love to travel and enjoy nature. Hiking, snowboarding
and being outside inspires me. Besides nature, culture also fascinates me. I find it very interesting to visit museums and exhibitions, see architecture in different cities and countries, and meet people from various cultures.

As a little girl I loved to sport and make music. Apart from field hockey, tennis and ballet I also had lessons in playing the saxophone. When I went to high school I decided to focus on a single sport, which was hockey. The team spirit and sporting outside made me feel good and gave me power.

In 2004 I started my study Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente. I did not have that much time left to train seriously on a high level so I decided to quit playing hockey. Instead of hockey I now do sports like fitness, Pilates and running.  

Besides designing and painting, reading is also one of the things I enjoy doing. It stimulates the imagination and forms a source of inspiration for designing. Furthermore I am curious and like to find out new things. It is a challenge to combine outstanding design with human values and new technologies in such a way it meets the wishes and demands of both user and client and is in harmony with their environment.

Personal growth and development are just as important for me as helping others. My ability for teamwork, enthusiasm, curiosity, discipline and positive view really help me during the design process and my quest for self-knowledge and self-improvement drives the imagination. I am very motivated in reaching my goals, believe in my dreams and trust my intuition.

During my study I had the opportunity to develop myself as a designer. Especially the last year of my master study (2009) was a very inspiring and interesting year for me. I was working on my graduation assignment at Philips Design in Amsterdam where I designed an innovative and unique product for the Chinese market which is discussed at Philips in Hong Kong at the moment. Furthermore I went to China for several months to participate in an exchange program. I studied on the Beijing Jiaotong University and had the opportunity to travel to Tibet. By the beginning of 2010 this successful year was concluded with graduating cum laude for the master Industrial Design Engineering.
